Hannah Ramage

I have always had an interest in horses and began riding at a very early age.  I attended Benalla Pony Club for many years where I enjoyed a variety of disciplines.  In my teenage years my focus turned to show jumping where I was part of the Victorian Junior Show Jumping Squad and competed in open A&B classes.

Pony Club also gave me many great experiences.  I was lucky enough to be selected to represent Australia at the Interpacific Exchange in New Zealand and attend national competitions in Sydney and Toowoomba.  I also achieved my A certificate from Pony Club Victoria in 2014.

After purchasing Jirrima Anchhorman (Nigel) my focus then turned to eventing.  I purchased him as a green broken 4 year old and together we progressed to FEI2** level.  He was such a reliable team mate and together we had some exciting placings at 2** level including a 3rd at the Victorian State Championships.  Just recently my goals changed as I was diagnosed with an eye condition which effects my ability to focus and my depth perception.  Following this I made the very difficult decision to sell Nigel as I no longer felt confident to event at the top level.  He has found the best home and I am loving watching him teach his new rider the ropes.

Over the last 12 months the horses have taken the back seat as I spent many hours planning for our wedding.  We transformed our family shearing shed to create an amazing wedding venue.  During this time the competitions have been quieter, and I have enjoyed coaching at local pony clubs.

Currently I am working with my homebred Warmblood Stock Horse mare.  She has had lots of basic training and has taken it all in her stride.  She is coming along very nicely and I am looking forward to introducing her to the competition arena.

I absolutely love Black Horse Clothing.  The range, quality and affordability of their clothing is amazing.  I am very lucky to be part of this amazing team and hope that I can do them proud this season.

This is so hard to choose because I love them all... At the moment I am loving Song and Sam Pro.

My age is 28
I live in Everton, Victoria
I would describe my occupation as a Primary School Teacher.  I am currently teaching Grade one at Oxley Primary School.
My favourite breeches are 'Song' and 'Sam Pro'
I started riding when I was about four.  I was lucky enough that my parents just decided to buy me a pony.
My first pony was a roan Australian pony called Dusty.  He was a naughty little pony but taught me so much.
The highlight of my career so far is training my horse Jirrima Anchorman from a green broken 4 year old to a successful 2* eventer.
My secret crush is the excitement when something new from Black Horse Clothing arrives!
My biggest riding influence is my Mum who is always so supportive of all I do.
The best piece of advice I have for up & coming riders is to never give up!  Persistence and hard work can make all the difference.
When I'm not riding I'm working on our sheep and cattle farm or coaching riders.
The word that best sums me up is passionate.
My dirty little secret is chocolate.
My pre-comp secret weapon is to walk the cross country course over and over and to find somewhere quiet to go over things in my head.
The greatest challenge I've faced is being diagnosed with my eye condition which has changed my current riding goals.
My least favourite task is doing the washing.
If I won lotto I would set up an indoor arena, new paddocks and stables and start my own riding business.
I would tell my 13 year old self not to compare yourself to others.
You probably don't know this but  our new farm at Everton is slowly becoming more and more horsey without my husband realising!
If my horse/s could talk he/she/they would say

either 'feed me', 'pat me' or 'I love you'.
